Under the Patronage of H.E. the Minister of Social Development and Family: Qatar’s First Community-Certified “Autism House” Inaugurated at The Pearl Island
Doha, Qatar – 17 June 2025: In a meaningful step that reflects Qatar’s deep-rooted commitment to inclusivity and social equity, the Autism Parents Platform inaugurated its new community center—“Autism House”—on Monday, 16 June 2025, under the patronage of H.E. Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family. Held at Porto Arabia, The Pearl Island, the ceremony drew wide participation from senior government officials, private sector leaders, and advocates for autism awareness and integration.
The inauguration marks a national milestone, as the center is the first of its kind in Qatar to receive official community accreditation from the International Council for Accreditation and Continuing Education. It stands as a pioneering model for delivering holistic support to individuals with autism and related sensory and behavioral challenges within a safe, inclusive environment.
Strategically supported by United Development Company (UDC), the initiative falls in line with UDC’s unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and to enabling impactful, human-centered development across its destinations. Mr. Yasser Al-Jaidah, UDC’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the company’s backing of this initiative aligns with its broader vision to support inclusive and sustainable communities that uphold social cohesion and opportunity for all.
Designed as a multi-purpose center, Autism House offers a comprehensive ecosystem for family support, sensory therapy, educational and training programs—tailored to age groups and delivered under the supervision of highly qualified teams. It also seeks to act as a dynamic bridge connecting parents, professionals, and key institutions to foster a sustainable, community-wide support network.
The inauguration ceremony featured official speeches from Mr. Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Chairman of the Autism Parents Platform, who shared the organization’s vision for the future, and Ms. Hamda Al-Hitmi, Founder of the platform, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all partners and supporters, highlighting that the launch represents a turning point in advancing autism empowerment across Qatar.
Among the many distinguished guests were representatives of several supporting entities including SeaShore Group, Ooredoo, LuLu Hypermarket, Blue Salon Group, and Estithmar Holding. Their presence underscored the growing role of private sector partnerships in advancing social development goals and enhancing quality of life for all.
Ooredoo was represented by Mr. Sabah Al-Kuwari, Director of Public Relations, further reinforcing the telecom sector’s involvement in meaningful community initiatives.
H.E. the Minister officiated the ribbon-cutting, followed by a tour of the center’s facilities. The event concluded with a group photo that symbolized a shared commitment to compassion, partnership, and purpose—a powerful statement of what can be achieved through collaboration.
Autism House is more than just a physical space; it is a symbol of national progress and community unity. As Qatar continues to champion inclusion and equity, this center stands as a tangible step toward building a society where every individual is empowered to thrive.
