United Development Company Receives International Safety Award for The Pearl-Qatar

United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari public shareholding company and master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island, has received the International Safety Award 2020 in Merit category by the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its community at The Pearl-Qatar including workers and workplaces, healthy and safe.
This award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated commitment to occupational health, safety and wellbeing where more than 500 organizations of all sizes and sectors in more than 50 countries worldwide, were awarded for their commitment to International Safety standards, including businesses from Europe, UK, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Commenting on this award, Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, UDC President, CEO and Member of the Board said: “This is a major achievement for UDC and The Pearl-Qatar community in particular as it demonstrates UDC’s true dedication to international health and safety standards and to improving the quality of life and standard of living for people in the communities we develop, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030’s development pillar to provide a healthy and safe environment for all society members.”
UDC maintains the highest standard of health and safety by applying core strategic approaches to monitoring and regulating work environments in addition to promoting a culture of accountability to mitigate exposure to risks. As such, more than 400 safety, fire life safety inspections, audit and training were conducted in 2019, with zero lost time injury cases recorded for over 8,000 employees.
