A Qatari national, with a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, and accounting from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Ahmed bin Ali Al-Hammadi serves as the Director General of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority.
He has held several senior positions, including Head of Investment – Europe, Russia, and Turkey Region, and Supervisor of Direct Investments in Europe, Russia, and Turkey at the Qatar Investment Authority.
His Excellency has extensive and diverse experience in business and commerce. Before joining the Qatar Investment Authority, he served as Vice President of Asset Management at EFG Hermes Qatar. He also gained valuable experience at Booz & Company as a financial services consultant, focusing on strategy, private equity investment opportunities, and organizational structures.
Mr. Al-Hammadi holds several board memberships both within and outside Qatar. Internationally, he is a board member of Heathrow Airport in London. Locally, he chairs the boards of United Development Company and Qatar Cool and serves as Vice Chairman of Qatar Electricity and Water Company. He is also a board member of ALRAYAN Bank, Industries Qatar, Qatar Stock Exchange, and Ooredoo Group.
In 2019, he was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
